The Predictive Analytics and Technology Integration (PATENT) Laboratory aims to accelerate advances in several interdisciplinary fields by addressing the challenges in data management, integration, and analytics, as well as predictive modeling and simulation. By integrating various technologies and data sources, including artificial intelligence and machine learning, PATENT will contribute to developing next-generation solutions that are data-driven, resilient, and robust in both real-world and theoretical domains across these diverse industrial sectors.
PATENT conducts fundamental and applied research in Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Cyber-Physical Systems. Lab members have research in the underlying areas, such as distributed systems, networking, knowledge representation and reasoning, data management and databases, information retrieval, machine learning, personalization, security and privacy, web/data mining, multi-agent systems, and HPCC. Our core application areas include Predictive Maintenance, Healthcare, Cybersecurity, Internet of Things. PATENT fosters comprehensive multidisciplinary and translational research in AI across the institution in addition to a number of the above-mentioned key research topics. It also supports workforce and economic growth in the state through education, technology, and commercialization.
Although PATENT is housed in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, the innovative lab facilitates research and educational initiatives focused on broad issues that span multiple disciplines and departments. As a result, it will serve as a university-wide hub to affect greater collective outcomes. Our mission extends that of the Mississippi State University and other centers like CAVS, ISER, NSPARC, and SSRC.
